OUR DIVIDING HEADS

 

Path Products manufactures its own product, the Dividing Head. These Dividing Heads are specifically designed to test angular measurements on all types of rotating components, such as potentiometers, resolvers, synchros, etc. Each Dividing Head model is calibrated at each 5 degree increment to a specific tolerance, the closest being ±5 seconds of arc.

 

We certify the accuracy of each subject unit and perform annual calibrations for the majority of our customers. Testing is achieved as follows:

 

1. The Dividing Head is mounted on a Master Table with a common axis.

2. An optical flat is mounted in the collet of the Dividing Head.

3. An Auto-collimeter, bore sighted to center of optical flat, is used as the sighting device.

4. The Dividing Head is rotated, CW, in 5° detented positions (using outer dial markings) and the Master Table is rotated in the opposite direction in 5° steps.

5. By the use of the Auto-collimeter, the error between the Dividing Head under test and the Master Table is determined.
